September Blog
It is a cloudy day on the North Pacific coast. Most days here start with grey clouds. Today I expect it will turn sunny. I uploaded "Big Dark" to Amazon a few days ago, and it is still stuck "under review." Big Dark is a story about space travel in the future. It uses most recognized scientific rules. There is very little "handwavium." I am following that with a fantasy story I started some time ago, and hope to finish it a lot quicker than Big Dark. For one thing, there is far less scientific research necessary.
When I pry myself away from the keyboard, I plan a few miles on my e-bike, terrorizing a local herd of Elk. It's only fair, since they have been munching greenery on both sides of my house. Maybe I'll soon toss in a few pics as evidence.
That's it for now. Keep thinking and keep reading.
Mid-September Addition:
Amazon released Big Dark from their review, and it is now available for purchase. I have also received a "proof" copy of the paperback and am pleased with it. I hope others are as well.
On another subject, I recently watched an episode of "TESTED" where a man spent an inordinate amount of time designing the "perfect" keyboard. That was interesting. What struck me was a comment about being part of the generation growing up during the early years of Star Trek. A story that was told about a better time when issues like racism and economic problems had been solved. As he put it, the "everyday disappointments" of our everyday lives were gone. I would suggest that is what draws many of us to Science Fiction and Fantasy. We can inhabit worlds free of everyday disappointment for the time we are immersed in the story. Mostly, the problems and solutions are grander and provide us with respite from the everyday.
Moving on...Keep thinking and keep reading.
